Info about Mei Tai
A Mei Tai (pronounced May Tie and abbreviated MT) is a type of Asian-style Baby Carrier (ABC). A MT consists of a rectangular body of fabric with four straps. The simple yet effective design of the MT is able distribute the weight of your child on both shoulders as well as your waist. This makes MTs very comfortable for long carries and a good choice for heavier babies/toddlers. Mei Tais are very versatile, as they can be used for front, back and hip carries and from newborn through toddlers.
Info about the BabyHawk Mei Tai
The body of a BabyHawk mei tai measures 16 x 19 for the regular and 16 x 23 for the XT. The straps are 70 inches long and 3 3/4 inches wide, which fits a wide variety of adult sizes. The bottom strap is one continuous piece of fabric, which offers the most durable and safest support for your baby. The top straps and the headrest are padded, which ensures a comfortable and secure ride for both the wearer and the one being worn. All the fabrics we use are pre-washed and thrown into the dryer to prevent shrinkage.
The New Design!
BabyHawks now come in a new body style! This new design features a fold-down headrest! The headrest provides the support of the XT-sized BH with the cool comfort of the Regular-sized Babyhawk! The headrest can be up for head and neck support in younger babies, or while a child is sleeping, and down when it is not needed. The new style is the same size as the regular BabyHawk. This carrier is perfect for newborns to toddlers!
A Mei Tai is a great choice for a husband and wife who plan to use the same carrier, as a MT fits a wide variety of sizes. For this reason, all of our new Babyhawk MTs have a patterned fabric on only one side. We did this so that they can be reversed to a solid fabric which a husband or dad would feel comfortable wearing.
